Community Projects during Covid-19 by area.

NEW ADDINGTON AREA

The Fieldway and New Addington Food Stop

A community food-sharing membership scheme.  Tues & Wed, 10-12.  The Family Centre, Fieldway, New Addington, CR0 9BS.  Tel:  07498 058733 / 016889 844 277.  Email:  familycentre.fieldway@virgin.net.

Good Food Matters are closed currently for regular activities due to the COVID 19 situation.  What we ARE doing in response is starting a Good Food meal distribution service - initially this will be supporting the New Addington and Fieldway area, local food bank and the FOOD STOP.   We are looking to scale this up quite quickly depending on demand and support and resources.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, the elderly, isolated and people with compromised immune systems are worried about going to the shops to buy food. Many people are watching their livelihoods collapse. A lot of people are struggling already. People may go hungry.

Good Food really Matters and we want to help those in need and we need your help!

Using our 5-star hygiene rated kitchen we want to switch out services to a FREE food home delivery service - taking healthy, nourishing food direct to the doorsteps of our most vulnerable community members for example to Cedar House, warden assisted housing, shelters and other points of need such as the Family Centre who are opening the FOOD STOP an extra day on Fridays for older people.

Linking in with community organisations we want to

Cook lots of home-cooked nutritious "ready meals" including culturally appropriate meals

Make available some healthy meals full of fresh veg to keep vulnerable people as well as can be

delivered to those in most need/ isolation

Keep a friendly line of support open for anyone in crisis to signpost to additional support

Grow windowsill crops such as cut and come again lettuce, basil, coriander, parsley and microgreens for distribution across the community.

Please get in contact with Amanda from Good Food Matters in order to learn more about this service as it develops. Email amanda@goodfoodmatters.org.uk or call 07715905033
