Croydon Neighbourhood Care Association (CNCA) are the only charity set up as an umbrella charity in the London Borough of Croydon. One of our main service provisions is our befriending service. This has two arms, we support elderly carers and families caring for an elderly relative, many of whom are living with Dementia. The other is to work with elderly, frail people who live alone, many of whom have no next of kin or support networks.
We identified a gap in our borough provision and began to befriend lonely and isolated older people. The service is made up of home visits to the most vulnerable, with many receiving weekly calls and a texting service to relatives, and also the use of social media, through Facebook and Twitter, for more general information.
CNCA's Befriending Service is free to most recipients and calls are made between 9.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Do send your referrals in, however please be aware we now have a waiting list.
If you think that you or someone you know could benefit from this service, please contact us on either 0208 654 4440 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
